Osmose pole-restoration systems are designed to restore poles weakened by decay or other damage so they exceed NESC requirements. Osmose systems restore the required strength in the groundline section of a pole usually for one-third or one-fourth of the cost of pole replacement. In suburban or urban locales, the savings may be even greater.
The Osmo-C-TrussTM is most often used for poles taller than 60 feet while the Osmo-C2-TrussTM has become the most widely used option for distribution applications. Some restoration applications are not recommended for either C-Truss method due to the pole's condition above ground. In these cases, or where capacity, appearance, or difficult access are considerations, FiberwrapTM II offers an additional restoration option with greater ultimate flexibility.
Non-wood poles may also require restoration in the groundline zone or other parts of the structure. Osmose has applied our existing wood pole restoration systems, the C-Truss and FiberWrap II, along with some custom-engineered designs for restoration of all pole types.
In-service wood poles may need additional capacity due to overloading or storm hardening needs. The Osmo-ET-TrussTM is engineered to increase the bending capacity of in-service wood poles, avoiding the expense and time of pole replacement by 2/3 or more. Pole capacity can increase by one, two, three or even more classes.
Osmose products such as OsmoWeld® MPFTM and AquaWrap® offer additional repair options, for poles with mechanical, fire or woodpecker damage.
